Patricia Floyd gave her secret cereal creation to friends and family for gifts just in time for Christmas 2001. Family gave it to friends, who gave it to other friends who asked their friends where they got it. So she decided to send an email to a few folks and she sold 300 pounds in just two days! Vermont Morning was born. Vermont Morning's first plant was the garage behind Patricia and husband Peter's house on the Mad River in Warren. They soon outgrew that and now operate a real plant in nearby Waitsfield, another of the lovely Mad River Valley towns. Their commercial customers include natural food chains like Mrs. Green's and Fairway in New York, natural food stores-within-stores like Shaw's Wild Harvest, independent grocers, regional chains, food-cooperatives, country stores, hospitals, gift shops, breakfast restaurants, inns and resorts and most recently, Wild Oats. Their ultimate customers are the discerning consumers interested in the quality of the foods they eat and their health and more than a little in love with Vermont. Vermont Morning is a multi-grain hot cereal made from whole grains and brans of oats, wheat and rye. It has a more complex taste (many fans refer to its nutty overtone) than oatmeal because of these three grains. It also has more texture than oatmeal because Vermont Morning's grains include rolled and steel cut whole grains as well as bran. It is all natural, with a touch of cinnamon but no salt or sugar. Try fresh or dried apples, apricots, blueberries, cherries or strawberries; raisins, dried cranberries or nuts," says Patricia. "A little brown sugar or maple syrup or honey and you're there!" Their first real customer said what customers just keep on saying - "TBHCYEA!"* For Information: Vermont Morning 151 Mad River Canoe Road Waitsfield VT 05673 802-496-7568 sandig@marrbarr.com http://www.vtmorning.com *The Best Hot Cereal You Ever Ate!
